Roof and Gutter Repairs - Part 3.

  • 1 min read

Water ingress had caused serious damage to this historic property, including a collapsed lath‑and‑plaster ceiling and widespread decay throughout the roof timbers. Before repairs could begin, we carefully stripped back the roof to assess the full extent of the deterioration. All rotten timbers were removed and replaced or spliced with new Douglas fir, selected to match the original structure. We then installed new lead gutters and flashings before reinstating the roof, ensuring the building is now structurally sound and protected for the long term. Inside, new oak laths were fitted, and a traditional lime‑plaster ceiling was restored and finished with a fresh coat of paint. Here are a few photos showing the restoration process from start to finish. Find out more about how this project began in part 1.
