Sympathetic cleaning was carried out using a non‑invasive steam‑cleaning technique to remove algae and surface detritus. Due to the nature of the fountain, this process revealed a significant build‑up of limescale. The next stage of the restoration will involve repointing the open joints and removing the limescale, with the aim of reinstating the fountain after several years of being out of operation.
