Stone Archways - Part 1.

Revisited Sites.
As part of our new Revisited Sites series, this project marks the first return visit to one of our most memorable restorations. It involved the complete restoration of 13 large stone arches at the head of a lake on a country estate.
Twelve of the arches were no longer standing, and the original stones had been stored in a barn for many years. Before any rebuilding could begin, we undertook a meticulous process of sorting, identifying and matching each individual stone. Working almost like a giant three‑dimensional puzzle, every piece was carefully assessed for its original position, profile and load‑bearing role within the arch. Once matched, the arches were reconstructed using modern structural techniques and discreet stainless‑steel fixings to ensure long‑term stability while preserving the historic character of the structure. Here are some photos from the project.
