Attic Windows - Part 3.

We were recently instructed to carry out the restoration of these attic windows. The works involved targeted refurbishment of the window assembly and associated weathering components. Localised areas of deteriorated timber were cut out and replaced with pieced‑in sections that replicated the original profiles and grain orientation, maintaining structural integrity and continuity with the historic fabric. The existing window units underwent a full overhaul, including restoration of the leaded glass, which was removed, cleaned, re‑soldered where necessary, and reinstated. New copper flashing was installed to the head detail to replace missing weathering protection and re‑establish correct water management. Once all joinery and metalwork repairs were complete, the timber frames were prepared and repainted to provide a durable protective finish and seal the restored components.
