Historic Hall Restoration 7 - Rotten Timbers

A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Once the slates were removed and the roof void cleared of debris, we were able to assess the condition of the structural timbers. It quickly became evident that several rafters and beams had deteriorated over time and were no longer structurally sound, meaning they required full replacement.
