A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The slate roof, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, was in need of full renewal. We carefully stripped the entire roof, setting aside any slates still in good condition, and installed a green breathable membrane to provide weatherproofing while allowing ventilation. Finally, a mix of original and reclaimed slates was reinstated, preserving the character of the roof and helping ensure its longevity for another century. Discover how the restoration develops in part 5.
