Remove and redo the slate roof
A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire
Possibly dating to the late 19th or early 20th century (making this roof around 122 years old) the slate roof needed restoration. We stripped the entire roof, making sure to save any slates still in good condition and first laid the green breathable membrane. This membrane ensures the weatherproofing of the roof while still allowing the roof to breathe so there will be no build up of condensation. Finally, a mixture of original and reclaimed slates were restored in the hope of preserving the roof for another 100 years.
