A recent project we’ve been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The beautiful weathervane at the top of the bell tower was heavily rusted and in need of full restoration. Old photographs revealed that a key element—the orb beneath the arrow—had completely disintegrated over time, leaving no remaining traces. The metalwork was repaired, a new sphere was crafted, and the entire piece was re‑gilded with gold leaf. It now takes pride of place once again, shining at the very top of the bell tower. Discover the next steps in our restoration of this historic hall in Part 14.
