Historic Hall Restoration 8 - Roof Insulation

A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire

After the slate roof had been removed, the debris cleared and any rotten beams replaced, the next step before replacing the slate roof is to install the insulation. We chose 100% natural sheep’s wool as it is better for the environment as well as safer. Despite lower risk to ourselves upon installation of this natural insulation, full body protective suits were still worn throughout the process.
