A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. With the slate roof removed, the debris cleared and any rotten beams replaced, the next stage before reinstating the roof was to install the insulation. We opted for 100% natural sheep’s wool, both for its environmental benefits and its safer handling properties. Although the risk to installers is far lower than with synthetic alternatives, we still wore full protective suits throughout the process. Discover more about the restoration process in part 9.
