Historic Hall Restoration 18 - Elevation Rebuilds

A recent project we’ve been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Subsidence, spanning two floors, had caused structural issues around this window. The entire outer leaf of brickwork, including the stone heads, was removed to expose the failed core brickwork beneath. Some inner sections were stabilised while others required full rebuilding. New concrete lintols were then installed above the windows, with Helibar added for additional strength and support. Finally, the outer brickwork was rebuilt and tied into the stabilised core, and the original stone heads were refixed. Discover more about the history of this building here.
