A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire
Spanning two floors of Brackenhurst Main Hall, subsidence had caused structural issues that centred around this window. To begin, the entire outer leaf of brickwork was removed, including the stone heads, to reveal the faulty core brickwork beneath. Some of these inner sections of brick were stabilised where others had to be rebuilt. Next, new concrete lintols were inserted above the windows and Helibar added for further strength and support. Finally, the outer brickwork could be rebuilt, tying into the new stabilised core and the original stone heads refixed.
